Rupee opens at 65.30 per dollar; gains 11 paise -- -- 7 Oct 2015

Today, the rupee is expected to trade within a narrow range of 65.35-65.50/dollar, says NS Venkatesh of IDBI Bank.

                 
The Indian rupee has gained 11 paise in the early trade on Wednesday. It has opened at 65.30 per dollar against previous close of 65.41."Today, the rupee is expected to trade within a narrow range of 65.35-65.50/dollar,"

Sensex ends 147 points up at 26,933, Nifty settles at 8,152; Tata Motors shares gained 5.74 per cent--- 6 Oct 2015

The BSE Sensex ended 147.33 points higher at 26,932.88. NSE Nifty settled 33.60 points up at 8,152.90,. Tata Motors shares gained 5.74 per cent on BSE.
                     
In the 50-share index, Tata Motors(5.74%), ITC (3.81%), Cipla (3.81%), Coal India(3.71%), GAIL(3.65%) were among the gainers. BHEL (3.16%), Infosys(2.09%), UltraTech Cement Limited(1.70%), ACC(1.58%) and NTPC(1.57%) were among the losers.
Among the sectoral indices on the Bombay Stock Exchange, the BSE consumer durables index gained the most — 4.30 per cent, followed by BSE Fast Moving Consumer Goods (up 2.41 per cent), BSE Metal index (up 2.14 per cent) and BSE Oiland Gas index (up 1.92 per cent).
“Value buying raised prices higher after the sharp intra-day correction which took place in the intra-day trade when investors booked profits,”

Sensex, Nifty flat; banks & IT stocks laggards, GAIL up 3% -- 6 Oct 2015

Tata Motors, Cipla, GAIL, ONGC and Coal India are top gainers while BHEL, Infosys, Maruti, HDFC Bank and Bajaj Auto are among laggards in the Sensex.

                           
The market is going steady but technology and bank stocks are dragging. The Sensex is up 36.63 points or 0.1 percent at 26822.18 and the Nifty is down 3.05 points at 8116.25. About 1394 shares have advanced, 1078 shares declined, and 138 shares are unchanged. Tata Motors, Cipla, GAIL, ONGC and Coal India are top gainers while BHEL, Infosys, Maruti, HDFC Bank and Bajaj Auto are among laggards in the Sensex. Continuing its upward march, gold rose by another 0.15 percent to Rs 26,607 per 10 grammes in futures trade on Tuesday as speculators widened positions, taking positive cues from global markets. Market analysts said persistent rise in the precious metal in global markets where it traded at one-week high after bets shrank for a US rate rise this year, boosting the outlook for the metal which does not pay interest or give returns like other assets such as bonds and equities.

LIVE: Sensex jumps over 150 points, Nifty above 8,150; Tata Motors over 2% up -- 6 Oct 2015

The BSE Sensex opened on a positive note on Tuesday following positive global cues.


Sensex up 95.54 points at 26,881.09. Nifty up 30.85 points at 8,150.15. S&P BSE Healthcare was up 0.95 per cent and BSE Realty was up 0.56 per cent. Tata Motors was trading 2.24 per cent up at Rs 322.25
       
The BSE Sensex opened on a positive note on Tuesday following positive global cues. NSE Nifty opened above 8,150. At 9.15 am, Sensex was up 174.54 points at  26,960.09. Similarly, Nifty was up 43.65 points at 8,162.95 during the same time.
Asian stocks on Tuesday got a boost from the prospect of a delay in the US Federal Reserve’s plan to raise interest rates and signs of some stability in oil and commodity markets.
US stocks jumped on Monday, with the S&P 500 rising for the fifth day in a row, as rising oil prices boosted energy stocks and investors bet the Federal Reserve would not raise interest rates this year. Japan’s Nikkei share average rose to a 2-1/2-week high on Tuesday as expectations that the U.S. Federal Reserve will wait longer to raise interest buoyed investors’ risk appetites.
Britain’s top share index rose nearly 3 per cent on Monday, with a surge in Glencore after a volatile week leading mining companies higher.

Nifty opens above 8150, Sensex gains over 200 pts; NTPC up ---- 6 Oct 2015

The market starts with a bang on Tuesday, continuing its uptrend from yesterday. The Sensex is up 207.00 points or 0.8 percent at 26992.55 and the Nifty is up 61.15 points or 0.7 percent at 8180.45. About 516 shares have advanced, 70 shares declined, and 23 shares are unchanged. Tata Motors, NTPC, ICICI Bank, Tata Steel and Dr Reddy's Labs are top gainers. The Indian rupee has opened with a marginal gain of 4 paise at 65.25 per dollar on Tuesday against previous day's closing value of 65.29 a dollar. Ashutosh Raina of HDFC Bank said, "The positive sentiment is back after disappointing jobs data, with markets expecting that a 2015 Fed hike is off the table for now. This has resulted in EM currencies, equities and bonds rallying." The US dollar gained against a basket of major currencies on renewed risk appetite in the wake of a disappointing US jobs report. Asian equities extended gains into a second session on Tuesday following another US rally, while investors also kept an eye on the region's central banks. Markets in China remain closed until Wednesday for National Day holidays. Meanwhile, the Bank of Japan begins a two-day policy meeting, with an outcome due Wednesday. On Wall Street, the Nasdaq closed up 1.5 percent while the S&P 500 and Dow both spiked nearly 2 percent, fueled by expectations that the Federal Reserve will refrain from tightening monetary policy this year after last week's poor jobs report. Brent Crude climbed higher, bolstered by a rally in US gasoline and Russia's willingness to meet other major oil producers to discuss the market. Precious metal gold's prices remained largely unchanged at USD 1135 an ounce.

At 8.28 am (IST), SGX Nifty was up 56.50 points, or 0.69 per cent, at 8,196.50.
The prospect of a delay in the US Federal Reserve’s plan to raise interest rates and signs of some stability in oil and commodity markets boosted Asian stocks on Tuesday. Hang Seng and Nikkei were up 0.29 per cent and 1.49 per cent, respectively.
Japan’s Nikkei extended the rebound from eight-month low hit a week ago, helped by speculation that the Bank of Japan might adopt stimulus to support the flagging economy. The BOJ also starts its two-day policy meeting on Tuesday.
US stocks rallied Monday on renewed hopes that the Federal Reserve will delay raising interest rates. The recent readings on the US economy could force the Fed to wait until next year. The Institute for Supply Management released a report on non manufacturing index showing that growth in the service sector slowed by more than expected. US’s Dow Jones Industrial Average index jumped 1.85 per cent at 16,776.43 on Monday.
Back home, benchmark indices gained more than 2 per cent on Monday, posting their biggest single-day percentage gain in nearly nine months as expectations for a US rate hike faded after weaker-than-expected US jobs data. The Sensex gained 2.15 per cent to end at 26,785.55, while the Nifty rose 2.12 percent to end at 8,119.30. Both posted their biggest single daily gains since January 2015.
