Sensex gains for third day, Nifty closes at 8,275; Reliance Industries surges 5.5% -- 19 Oct 2015

The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty gained for a third consecutive trading session on Monday as Reliance Industriessurged after posting a stronger-than-expected quarterly profit, while sentiment was supported after Chinese economic growth data eased fears of a hard landing. Sensex closed 150.32 points up at 27364.92 while Nifty closed 36.90 points up at 8,275.05.

                                   

Reliance Industries rose as much as 5.78 per cent on Monday after saying on Friday that its July-September consolidated net profit rose a bigger-than-expected 12.5 per cent from a year earlier.

At the same time, investors were comforted after China’s economy grew slightly better than forecasts in the July-September quarter, even as it dipped below 7 per cent for the first time since the global financial crisis.
