Sensex Turns Flat, Nifty Holds 8,200; Infosys Plunges 5% -- 12 Oct 2015

Sensex turned flat after gaining over 200 points in the opening trade and the 50-share Nifty traded with minor gains holding above it key psychological level of 8,200. Infosys, which reported better-than-estimated earnings for the July-September quarter fell over 5 per cent after its chief financial officer Rajiv Bansal quit the company.

                       
Meanwhile, sentiment remained positive as Asian shares extended gains on Monday. Traders also bought shares anticipating better IIP and inflation numbers to be released later in the day.

Metal stocks were among the top gainers on the sectoral charts. Vedanta surged over 6 per cent to be the top gainer in Nifty followed by Hindalco Industries, which was up 2.5 per cent. Tata Steel also advanced over 2 per cent. The metal index on NSE was up over 2 per cent.

Banks and auto stocks also witnessed some buying interest.

Bank of Baroda was the top loser among the Nifty stocks. The stock was down nearly 4 per cent as CBI raided its branches in Delhi on fishy remittances.

As of 10.20 a.m. The Sensex was up 66 points at 27,146, while the 50-share Nifty traded 0.27 points higher at 8,212.
