Tata Steel, Infosys, ICICI Bank, Hindalco, GAIL, Hindalco and Cairn India were early gainers while ITC, M&M, Wipro, Coal India, NTPC, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Reliance Industries were under pressure.
The market has opened volatile on last day of the week following mixed global cues. The Sensex fell 18.68 points to 25233.64 and the Nifty declined 10.05 points to 7673.25. Tata Steel, Infosys, ICICI Bank, Hindalco, GAIL, Hindalco and Cairn India were early gainers while ITC, M&M, Wipro, Coal India, NTPC, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Reliance Industries were under pressure.
The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty opened on a flat note to cautious note on Friday tracking Asian markets. Sensex opened 29.45 points up at 25,281, while NSE Nifty opened 16.30 points up at 7,699.60.
The 30-share index was trading at 25,270, up 20 points or 0.07 per cent. It touched a high of 25,316.14 and a low of 25,222.64 in morning trade.
The Nifty50 was at 7,684 down 2 points or 0.01 per cent. It touched a high of 7,703.05 and a low of 7,671.45 in the first 30 minutes of trade.
The S&P BSE Midcap Index was up 0.28 per cent and BSE S&P Smallcap Index was trading 0.38 per cent higher.
Tata Steel (up 2.2 per cent), Hindalco (up 1.1 per cent), HUL (up.0.69 per cent), and Dr Reddy's Laboratories (up 0.67 per cent) were among the major Sensex gainers.
ITC (down 0.65 per cent), M&M (down 0.59 per cent), NTPC (down 0.56 per cent), RIL (down0.52 per cent), and RIL (down 0.52 per cent) were among the major Sensex losers
